As most others, I first came into contact with Irish dance through the Eurosvision in the early 90´s. I lived in a small village in Finland, so I never even thought of the possibility of dancing myself. But, one fall about 10 years ago a course was held in my village. After that fall I took up dancing again in 2006 while studying in Helsinki. Later when I moved to Stockholm I kept on dancing there. With the dancing came a great interest in the Irish music and culture!
I currently live in Vaasa (Finland) where I started a dance class this fall. I really hope that we through NSID could promote Irish dancing and that the wonderful tradition of the feisanna would carry on. Since the number of dancers in the nordic countries is relatively low, I see NSID as a very important organisation for strengthen the role of Irish dance.
Professionally I design automation systems for large ship engines, so Irish dancing is a great way to get my mind off my work :)
