Welcome to the NSID workshop 2012! May 18-20.
Venue
The workshop will be held at Sound Irish dance factory’s dance studio: Senteret for internasjonal dans, Kongensgate 16, Oslo NORWAY (where the feis workshop were during the FEIS’09).
It is situated in downtown Oslo, about a 5 minutes walk from Oslo Central Train Station, and there are several hotels/budget accommodation options within 5 minutes of walking. Thon Hotel Astoria offers double rooms for apx 800 NKR including breakfast. It is also possible to put a note in the dance hall and ask if any of the dancers can take a fellow Nordic dancer in for the weekend.
Our dressing rooms has simple standard and there is one shower. It can be possible to sleep in the dance studio. Contact Hilde Juul if you wish to use the dance hall for accommodation. hilde_magda@hotmail.com
Schedule and level
A detailed workshop schedule will be sent out during March. It will contain technique and some solo/trad set dance. Maybe also some sort of group dance. The workshop will go on between 9 and 16, Saturday and Sunday. This workshop is for dancers from primary level and up, soft and hard shoe. The workshop will be divided in at least two levels.
Teacher
Eileen who did the workshop in 2010 can not join us this time and we are still looking for a teacher for the workshop. It will be announced as soon as we know.
Registration, fee and travel expenses
Space is limited so its first come first served. So don’t wait, it will get booked up. To register for the workshop, send an e-mail with name, school/group, country and dance level to asewaglen@gmail.com
NOTE! This is a NSID member workshop only.
Workshop fee is € 65,-
NSID refunds travel expenses from above 65 € up till 330€. In other words no one pays more for travel than 65 € (unless the expenss is more than 330 € the NSID will cover 265,- and the participant must cover the rest)
NOTE: Valid travel documents must be provided to get the refund.

Finland

Annual General Meeting
NSID's Annual General Meeting will be held online December 3-9. All members are welcome to take part in the meeting.
It is again time for the election and/or re-election of NSID committee members. Ideally all the countries should be represented in the committee... So if you live in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland or Iceland feel free to nominate yourself or to spread the word to those who might be interested at your school etc. Please don't hesitate to contact Elina or Catherine, if you are interested in one of the positions, or if you just want more information!
The committee consists of: Chair person, Treasurer, Feis coordinator, Information coordinator and 4 members
..and outside of the committee is the election committee.

The Saturday Night Irish Dance Fever
“The Saturday Night Irish Dance Fever” show will be held at GIH, Stockholm (T-bana Stadion).
Date: 29th of October Time: 19.30- 21.30.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Nordic Feis! We are celebrating by staging a dance show including the competition’s show and also freely chosen contributions of choreographies from the Nordic performance groups.
As well these performances by top Irish dancers from our Nordic countries we also have the privilege of a guest solo performance by former Riverdance star, Joanne Doyle.
The Nordic Feis is an annual Irish dance festival including the Nordic Championships, workshops, grade exams, lectures, party/pub and show. The Nordic Feis moves between the Nordic countries and has been a big success since its start in 2001.
In addition, the show’s Irish musicians Brian Friel (banjo) and Tom Mulcahy (guitar/vocals) will perform some tunes from Brian’s new solo album Karusell, release due Nov, Ireland.
Brian’s album is on sale pre-release exclusively at the Nordic Feis.
Tickets for the weekend’s competitions are available for purchase on site on the day.
